How does your finished product compare to your design?
My design and my finished product aren't very alike, as in my design it is a close up of the model, whereas my design is of someone sitting on the grass in a field of flowers, but the product is still in the corner of the page and the title is still in the same place. I changed the picture to a further view as I thought it would be more effective if the model was further and as though she is longing for the perfume, and so that the perfume would be more the focus other then the model.
How has technology ( computer, digital camera and computer software) helped you turn your design into a real product?
Photoshop on the macs at school really helped me piece my magazine front cover together nicely, and to manipulate the picture to how I wanted it to look, for example, enlarging the image to fit nicely on the page, or adding text onto my front cover, and onto the perfume image I got from the internet, for the brand name and name of the perfume. When we were able to use the camera's at school, that really helped me with learning about different angles and lighting, and how that can really effect the picture, and give you a better effect.
Do you feel your product is suitable for your target audience?
Yes, I do believe my product is suitable for ages of 14+ as the product is elegant yet not too sophisticated for teenagers, I believe that teenagers and older will want to buy this perfume as most 14 year olds, are starting to want to were more perfumes and more older and sophisticated perfumes, therefore they will want to use perfumes that their mother may buy, or that have a sense of maturity to them, so 14+ would be a good target audience for my product.
Describe two challenges you have overcome?
Two challenges I have overcome whilst creating my perfume were:
The first being the manipulation of the perfume bottle, whilst trying to add in the text of my brand name for the perfume and the text of the name of the perfume, this was hard to do I had to try and go over the writing that was already there, by trying to match the exact colour of the bottle of the placement of the text and to try and add it in so that it looked as though it was meant to be there, and was printed/ put in the actual bottle in the first place which I found challenging.
The second was the layering, trying to add new layers whilst trying to keep the other layers shown, and overlapping the layers and cutting the perfumes background out so you just had the bottle, as you had to keep a steady hand whilst cutting the background off, or you might ruin it and have to start again, by cutting into the perfume that you wanted to keep.
Describe the technical skills you have gained?
I have learned how to manipulate an image on photoshop, and about the layering on photoshop also. I have learned how to create an advert, and what makes a good advert and what makes a bad advert, like overcrowding can result in a bad advert, and simplicity can make the advert more elegant and sophisticated.
